What Supplemental Education at PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. Really Means (and How It Helps Your Child)

Many families are told their child “isn’t quite eligible” for more support, or they’re handed a list of referrals and left to piece everything together on their own. Supplemental education is designed to fill that gap-not by replacing school or daycare, but by wrapping intentional, evidence-based support around what your child is already doing.

PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. is a nonprofit, in-person program for children ages 3–14 who benefit from extra practice with learning-how-to-learn skills, behavior, self-regulation, communication, and social skills. Children do not need a diagnosis to participate; some may have identified disabilities, and others may simply need a bit more coaching, structure, or community than they’re getting elsewhere. Our focus is on helping each learner build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections in an inclusive setting.

*At this time, the academy is in the development phase and not yet open, as we work to build the resources and partnerships needed to serve families in our community.

Supporting Children Who Are Still Waiting for Services

One of the main inspirations for PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. is the reality that many children wait months-or even years-for evaluations, diagnoses, and services, especially for concerns like autism. During that time, families are often told to “wait and see,” even when they know their child needs more support right now.

Our goal is to make sure that waiting does not have to mean standing still. PSBI Learning Academy is designed for children who are: on waitlists for evaluations or services, unable to access support due to insurance, cost, transportation, or provider shortages, ineligible for school-based services but clearly needing extra help, or already receiving services and simply needing more consistent practice and coaching. Children do not need a diagnosis to participate; if your child would benefit from extra support with learning-how-to-learn skills, behavior and self-regulation, communication, social skills, or life skills-or if you simply want them in an inclusive, supportive environment-they are welcome here. Our progressive ABA approach focuses on building practical, everyday skills while honoring each child’s individuality and family values.

How Our Sessions Work

The academy will offer three sessions per day so families can choose what best fits their schedule and goals. Morning and afternoon sessions will each run three hours and operate daily, the after-school sessions will run two days per week (Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday). This structure gives children regular, predictable practice time while allowing families to maintain their current school, daycare, and therapy routines.

Each child is assigned to a group or class, but what they work on within that group is individualized. That means your child benefits from the sense of belonging and routine that comes with a consistent group while still receiving targeted support based on their unique needs and strengths. Instead of “one-size-fits-all” lessons, we design programming that supports each learner where they are and helps them move toward where they want to be.

More Than Academics: Skills That Make Learning Possible

At PSBI Learning Academy, academics matter-but we also know that many children struggle not because of the content itself, but because of the skills that come before and around learning. That’s why we place a strong emphasis on:

  • Learning-how-to-learn skills (following directions, staying engaged, asking for help, organizing materials, persisting with tasks)

  • Behavioral skills and self-regulation (coping strategies, flexibility, understanding expectations, recovering from upset)

  • Communication (expressing needs, understanding others, expanding language and alternative communication methods when appropriate)

  • Social skills (sharing space, taking turns, problem solving with peers, building friendships)

  • Life skills (age-appropriate independence, daily routines, and practical tasks)

A progressive approach to ABA will be our primary method, with a commitment to dignity, collaboration, and child-led engagement. We are intentional about using strategies that are evidence-based and trauma-informed, and that respect each learner’s autonomy, identity, and communication style.

Inclusive, But Not a School or Daycare

PSBI Learning Academy is designed to complement the supports your child already has, not replace them. We are not a school or daycare; rather, we are an inclusive supplemental program that works alongside your child’s existing educational placement, therapies, and community activities.

Children of all profiles are welcome-those with disabilities and those without, those who need just a little extra help and those who need more intensive, structured practice. Our goal is to create a space where every child can participate, grow, and feel like they belong, while practicing the skills that make success in school, home, and community more possible.

Partnering With Parents and Caregivers

We believe children make the most progress when the adults in their lives are supported too. At PSBI Learning Academy, families will have opportunities to observe their child in sessions, attend parent meetings and workshops, and learn practical strategies grounded in ABA, behavior support, and communication. Parents can also receive guidance on understanding IEPs, advocating for their child, and navigating systems, while connecting with other families who share similar questions and experiences.

Our hope is that PSBI Learning Academy becomes a place where families feel seen, heard, and equipped-not just with services, but with knowledge and community.

If the mission of PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. resonates with you, there will be many ways to help bring this vision to life-through spreading the word, partnering with us, donating, or participating in upcoming fundraisers and events. Your support helps ensure that children who are waiting for services, and those who simply need a bit more support, have an inclusive place to learn, practice skills, and belong.

Partnering to Open PSBI: Supplemental, Inclusive Learning for All Who Can Benefit

Practical Solutions for Behavior and Instruction LLC has supported children, families, and schools through consultation and training. PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. is the nonprofit extension of that work, created to expand access through a supplemental, inclusive program for all children who can benefit. PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. was created with one clear purpose: to give children and families access to compassionate, evidence-based learning support as soon as they need it, not years down the road. Families are navigating autism, learning differences, and behavioral challenges right now, and every month without services is a month of lost opportunities for growth, connection, and hope.

PSBI is designed as a supplemental, inclusive program-not a replacement for school, therapies, or other services. It is intentionally built to serve all children who can benefit from additional, research-informed learning opportunities, with a special focus on those who are on long waitlists or are not yet getting what they need from existing systems.

Bridging the Gap Between Waiting and Support

Across communities, families are facing long waitlists for evaluations, behavioral-based services, and specialized programs, which means lost time during critical developmental windows. PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. exists to help close that gap by offering a safe, structured place for children to receive targeted support while they wait and alongside existing services once they begin.

As a supplemental program, PSBI is designed to work with schools, providers, and families, not in competition with them. Children can attend PSBI to boost social, academic, behavioral, and functional skills that carry over into home, school, and community settings, helping to prevent them from falling further behind while “the system catches up.”

Inclusive and Open to All Who Can Benefit

PSBI is committed to inclusivity and access. The program is intended for children with and without formal diagnoses who would benefit from smaller group instruction, individualized support, or a more structured and compassionate learning environment-whether they are navigating autism, ADHD, learning differences, anxiety, simply need extra support to thrive, or want to join fun and engaging activities and make new friends!

By welcoming a diverse group of learners, PSBI fosters a community where differences are respected, strengths are celebrated, and peer interactions become a powerful tool for growth. The goal is to create an environment that feels safe, affirming, and accessible while still emphasizing meaningful progress in skills that matter in everyday life.

Why Funding Matters Before We Open

PSBI cannot open its doors until the required start-up funds are raised, which means community support is the bridge between vision and reality. Before a single child walks through the doors, PSBI must secure funding for facility costs, licensing, program materials, safety and accessibility, and the staffing needed to deliver high-quality, ethical, and trauma-informed programs.

Investing now allows PSBI to open as a stable, sustainable, family-centered learning community rather than a program struggling to survive from day one. Supporting PSBI is not just about opening a building; it is about opening possibilities for children and families who deserve specialized support, dignity, and a place where they can truly thrive.

First Annual Golf Tournament & Online Fundraiser

One of the first major opportunities to support PSBI is the First Annual PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. Golf Tournament on July 25, 2026. This event will bring together families, professionals, and community partners to raise the funds needed to open our doors and keep services accessible to those who need them most, while also building long-term relationships with supporters.

A “save the date” has already gone out, and more details are coming soon, including a flier and sponsorship opportunities at multiple levels so businesses and individuals can align their name with a mission that directly benefits local children and families. In addition, PSBI will be launching an online fundraiser in the coming weeks to give supporters near and far an easy way to donate, share the mission, and help build a strong base of ongoing support.

Moving Forward Together

The need for supplemental, trauma-informed, inclusive learning support is clear in the length of waitlists, the stories families share, and the number of children struggling without timely services. PSBI Learning Academy, Inc. is ready to step into that gap, but cannot do so without community partners who are willing to help move the mission from “in planning” to “now open.”

This is an invitation to move forward together. If PSBI’s mission resonates with you, please consider attending or sponsoring the golf tournament, participating in the upcoming online fundraiser, and sharing our work with families, schools, and community partners who might benefit.
